I'm proud to say that our in-house cockatiel pair are shacked up for the second time round and gave birth to three cockatiel babies. Of course it is early days - they are merely one week young. Being able to see these amazing pets after they have just hatched is a wonderful moment.

Right now we are busy feeding the proud parents as at this stage they have to feed the young every two hours until they are about 10 days young. As you can imagine, this is a lot of work, both for the cockatiel parents and us.

To say we are holding vigil is an understatement. Much like raising real human babies, bringing up pet babies is a  stressful task albeit a very beatiful one too.

I have a friend and I think a pet bird would be a good gift for them. Do you recommend this type of bird for someone who has never cared for a bird before? Is there anything special they should know and where can they find information (bookstore, vet, etc.)???

Thanks!
