Getting a family pup is unquestionably valuable as you are able to offer your household to an adorable four-legged creature. A dog in your home may stand for tons of love and playfulness but it as well equals a great deal of obligation for its owners.

Deciding which dog breed to take home as family dog is commonly a hard decision to arrive at, particularly with the ill-fated accounts of some people who have their family dogs assaulting their kids. Although there are breeds that are considered as family friendly, a few problems may still come up if the dog is left to assert itself and wasn't allowed adequate time to socialize and get to know each family member.

What is the most critical question a potential dog owner can ask him or herself when considering bringing a dog home? The answer depends on is there are children in the house or not, or if there are plans of having children in the future. If the potential pet owner believe that there will be children in the house in the future, it is important then to consider bringing home a dog good with kids.

One of the most popular dogs for the family is the Labrador retriever. This is a big dog with a gentle heart. The Lab is good in nature and they do not tend to be aggressive. They tend to be hyper during the first two years of their lives, but as they grow up they calm down. They are playful, intelligent and have patient toward kids. The lab tends to have a mild disposition and this has made them popular over the years as good family dogs. They tend to be people pleaser's and love to be pet and care for. They need a bit of exercise to stay active and avoid boredom; otherwise they might cause some destruction around the house.

The Golden retriever is another dog that is great for the family. This dog is also a big dog, and just like the Labrador retriever is gentle in nature, kind and well mannered. They love to be around people and also need to be exercised to avoid boredom. They are friendly with other dogs and cats, and in overall have a great disposition. One thing to keep in mind when choosing a Golden retriever is that they need to be groom, due to their long hair. A golden retriever is the perfect companion for children and people who are outdoor enthusiasts.

What is another dog that is good with a family with children? This is the beagle. The beagle is a hunting dog, and tends to howl, but if you can handle the howling they can become great companions. The beagle loves to be around the family and they can become depressed if left alone for extended periods of time. One of the famous beagles we all are familiar with is Snoopy. Beagles are not aggressive and they are friendly. They are also good watch dogs. They are good for small children because of their small size and they love to play with kids.

Keep in mind that not two dogs are alike, even dogs that belong to the same breed can be very different. Thinking that just because you got a dog good with children will guarantee the safety of your child is not always right. You need to make certain that your particular pet is friendly and gets along well with children. Sometimes some dogs have behavioral problems and you need to make sure that your dog is not one of them.
