Rising prices impacting pets |

There has been an increase in the number of people and the amount of pet food given out at food pantries around the country. One such center in Illinois has reported a 50% jump in people getting food rations for their pets since last year. The story seems to be the same across the country. And of course medical care for pets as well as their medicines have also increased. People are choosing not to get the necessary care for their pets simply because they can no longer afford the treatments. Some of these families have resulted in abandoning their pets or dropping them off at local shelters. Animal shelters and rescue groups are having trouble dealing with the increase and are seeking ways to try and raise additional money to save these pets. Of course they are not immune to the price increases either and their only choice is to euthanize the pets when they can no longer provide them with care.
