So our little Lucy tore her cruciate ligament two days ago.  Took her to the doctor yesterday and they recommended surgery but we aren't 100% sure that is the way to go.  In doing some research it appears that the long term benefits of surgery vs. natural healing are about the same.

Surgery gets things stabilized much faster but ultimately it is scar tissue that "holds" the knee back in place (unless you have really expensive TPLO surgery and the jury is out whether this is worth the extra big bucks it requires).

So the dilemma for us is the balance of spending a couple of thousand dollars and fully understanding if it is worth it.  We plan to update this blog and report along as we journey through this decision as well as the progress / outcome for our little Lucy.
