Use expensive cat food as treats

Cat owners often get samples of cat food in the mail. Many times that cat food sample is of a cat food that is more expensive than the cat owner normally uses. That cat owner can use expensive cat food as treats.

If a cat owner uses a sample of cat food in place of the cat's regular food, the cat can get an upset stomach. Cats do not easily adjust to abrupt dietary changes.

When the cat owner only gives the cat a small portion of the cat food sample as treats, the cat is much less likely to get an upset stomach from the change. Only a portion of the cat food sample should be used each day.

The cat food sample must be dry cat food to use expensive cat food as treats. Not only is wet cat food difficulties for cat treats, but the wet cat food can spoil if left open at room temperature or stored in the refrigerator for too long.

For samples of wet cat food, replace only part of the cat's regular cat food with half of the sample or less. Then, do the same with the mixture of the expensive cat food sample and cat's normal food the next day. Remember to keep open samples of wet cat food in the refrigerator.

The cat food sample can be divided among cats if there is more than one cat in the household. By dividing the sample among multiple cats, no single cat should get enough to cause it become ill. Many sources suggest limiting the use of a cat food sample to know more than half of a cat's meal to avoid stomach upset.
