My wife received an email today to try and save a Beagle dog at one of the local shelters. We get emails like this from time to time and it just breaks your heart to think that if someone doesn't step up and take the little guy (or gal) home they will end their life there.
I know that we can't adopt every single pet that shows up at the shelter or rescue center (as much as all of us would like to). I think we can help however by encouraging people to have their pets spayed and neutered and to adopt before you go and purchase from a breeder.
I don't have anything against breeders and I realize that many of them do that for a living. But I do think that there are plenty of people to purchase pets and there are plenty of people that can chose to adopt.
If you know someone looking for a pet please encourage them to adopt, especially now. With record numbers of people dropping pets off because they can no longer afford them (people are loosing their homes and just leaving the pets behind), we need a sincere effort to raise the awareness and adopt.
