Avoiding certain Siberian Husky breeders

So you have thought it over and the new family pet is definitely going to be a Siberian Husky. Now that you have made that decision it is time to start putting together all of your resources to find out the most critical piece of information in owning your dog and that is the question of who you are going to use as a Siberian husky breeder. Any reputable breeder will be listed with a national breeder registry. The registry sets the breeding standards that the breeder follows and if they do not have a listing with a breeder registry then it makes you wonder what standards they are using. Ask if they are listed with a registry and if they are not then question why they made that choice.

You should never underestimate the valuable information you can find with your vet when it comes to selecting the right Siberian husky breeder. Discuss your potential breeder choices with your vet and see if they recognize any names to avoid. If you have not chosen a vet yet then the process of selecting a breeder is the perfect time to start a discussion with a vet, as they will be just as interested in your pet's good health and well being as you are.

It may seem a bit extreme but you may also want to run your list of potential Siberian husky breeders by local law enforcement and see if any of the names on your list ring a bell with them as well. If a breeder is known in a negative way to local law enforcement then you probably do not want to deal with that breeder.

Sometimes you can take your list of Siberian husky breeders and run it by the local animal rescue groups and see if they have any information to offer about any particular breeder or not. The animal rescue groups should have some sort of relationship with local breeders or at least be familiar with them. The animal rescue shelters are certainly not going to steer you the wrong way so you can trust their advice. The animal rescue groups spend most of their time trying to help solve the situations that would require their services so they are sure to point you in the right direction.

Your breeder and you should have a very open and comfortable relationship. If you do not feel comfortable dealing with a particular breeder then do not do business with them. The relationship with your breeder could be very important to the health of your dog so be sure that you take your time, use all of the resources available to you, and make the right decision when it comes to choosing a Siberian husky breeder.
