AP study finds drugs in drinking water

The AP has reported that drugs have been found in the drinking water of "at least 41 million Americans".  While they say that the amounts are small and that utility companies and local governments say the water is safe, is it safe for our animals?

Humans are a much larger organism and therefore the trace amounts found in the water supply are most likely not harmful to us.   Apparently even those who get their drinking water from local wells are not completely safe either since the drugs are found in waste water that makes its way back to the drinking water supply.

Battle water may not filter all the drugs.  With our pets also being treated with drugs that also makes its way ultimately into the drinking supply.

The bigger question is what amounts are unsafe for our pets?  Are your fish, swimming in even treated water, at risk?  I can see a big business looming for water purification systems and billions more being spent to clean our own municipal drinking water.
