Dogs owners upset in Beijing about restrictions

Reuters reports that dog owners in Beijing are upset about restrictions placed on them making it illegal to own dogs over a certain height.  That makes dogs such as a German Shepherd illegal to own.

According to the story pet ownership in China is booming and pet owners are concerned and complaining about the unfair laws against larger dogs.  Unfortunately it appears that if you have an illegal dog it is taken and killed.  People are encouraged to register their pets (I assume much like we are required to do in the US) but the large dogs are not registered for obvious reasons.

Maybe we as dog and pet lovers should voice our concern about this unfair treatment of dogs...
