On Feburary 26th Los Angeles signed into law one of the toughest mandatory sterilization laws in the country. It will require most and dogs and cats to be sterilized in the first four months.
New comers to the city and older pets are not exempt. LA claims that they will soon be a "no-kill" city and this will help them reach that goal.
Others claim that this is further proof of govenment intruding in people's lives and forcing them to make mandated decisions that may not be what the pet owner desires. Some animal rights groups may argue that this is not "natural" for a pet.
What are your thoughts and opinions on this issue? Are there similar laws in your area or would you like to see them?
