Poodles are wonderful family pets

In their earliest years, Poodles served as retrievers for ducks. Their main purpose was to jump into the water and fetch ducks, which led to its becoming a good swimmer. However, today the Poodle can do a lot more and he is certainly also a good companion as he is easy to train and possesses traits such as being agile, and can hunt as well as track. Poodles are also excellent rescue animals and they also make wonderful service dogs.

Poodles are very intelligent and have an unusual appearance which has often led to them becoming a part of a circus because they are adept at performing tricks that in turn never fails to delight audiences. However, it is also their sweet nature that turns them into great family pets. Although they tend to form close attachments with many members of the family it would not be too far off the mark to describe them as one-man pets.

The name Poodle is believed to have originated from the German word "pfudel" that means to splash or puddle. Because of their curly coats, Poodles require grooming in a special way and they also require bathing on a regular basis, and the coat needs to be trimmed often, which in fact may even required it to be groomed by professionals who can even make them look like show dogs. However, Poodles are non-shedding though some small amounts of hair are lost each day.

Poodles are also hypoallergenic which means that even if you are allergic to dogs, having a Poodle around you will not prove to be problematic. In addition, Poodles are friendly creatures that like to be pampered and cared for and they get along well with children as well.

Its tail is usually docked (cut) to half its original length, while Poodles by and large require extensive grooming to the extent that even professional grooming may become necessary to properly maintain the coat.

All in all, Poodles are wonderful pets that typically are good natured as well as intelligent and they like to get a lot of attention while they also bond well with their owners. The Poodle is also reluctant to being left on its own and because he always is in need of attention and love, he expects to be around people most of the time.

Poodles are also eager to learn new things and are very proud of the tricks they can do and discoveries that they make and will readily show off these abilities. Poodles also love stability as well as routine and can also be considered one-person and even one-family pets and they are also often known to become shy in the presence of strangers.

The tail is usually docked (cut) to about half of its original length and Poodles are also creatures requiring extensive grooming.
