Shar Pei breeders to avoid

So it is going to be a Shar Pei after all and now comes the most important part of the process of getting your new pet, you have to compile a list of Shar Pei breeders to talk to. There are ways to eliminate certain breeders before you even get to talk to them and that is probably a good thing to do because this search is very important. You want all of the input you can get from qualified sources so that your time is spent talking to good candidates and not wasted talking to bad breeders.

The first thing you always want to find out is if a breeder is listed with any of the national breeder registries that you will find on the Internet. Ask the breeder what registry they are listed with and then confirm it for yourself.

If a breeder has chosen not to be affiliated with a national breeder registry then this may be something you want to question as registries set the breeding standards that good breeders use in their everyday business.

You can never underestimate the value of the information that your vet has to offer and there is no better time to talk to your vet, or start a conversation with one, than during the process of weeding out bad Shar Pei breeders. If your vet has a strongly negative opinion about any of the Shar Pei breeders you are considering then you may want to move on and consider other breeders. Your vet only wants to see you get the best pet you can so their advice is a great resource.

Sometimes when you meet a breeder everything seems great on the outside but if you ask local law enforcement about them then you find an entirely different story. If a breeder's history is cataloged with the local police then you may want to stay away from that breeder and find a new group of Shar Pei breeders to talk to for your sake and the sake of your future pet.

The Internet is more than just a way of buying something from eBay. You can also use the Internet in your research on local Shar Pei breeders. If a customer had an especially bad experience with a breeder they will sometimes post about it on the Internet for everyone to read and you can use information like that in your weeding out process.

It is important to know what other people think and you can find out opinions on just about anything by doing a search on the internet and much of that information can be quite valuable.

Always take your time when searching for a breeder and be prepared to talk to a lot of breeders before you settle on the one you will buy from. But in the process there is no reason why you cannot use the resources available to you to help you eliminate the breeders that are not worth your time and will never be breeders you will ever do business with.
